What does the 350 m² sample quote look like?
It is a real quote for renovating an existing outdoor surface, with the client details removed. The work is a restoration without replacement: the paving stays in place, is cleaned and repaired, and receives a new tinted finish. Six lines make up the quote, and every one states its quantity, unit price and amount before IVA.
| Line | Quantity | Unit price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure washing | 350 m² | 1,20 € | 420,00 € |
| Surface repair: filling cracks and holes with acrylic filler or mortar | 350 m² | 2,00 € | 700,00 € |
| Edge protection with masking tape | 350 m² | 0,50 € | 175,00 € |
| Tinted acrylic resin (two coats) | 350 m² | 9,50 € | 3.325,00 € |
| Final protective coat (optional) | 350 m² | 1,50 € | 525,00 € |
| Final cleaning and removal of tapes | 1 unit | 100,00 € | 100,00 € |
| Net total | 5.245,00 € | ||
| IVA 21 % | 1.101,45 € | ||
| Total | 6.346,45 € |
The quote deliberately contains no completion date or duration. How long a restoration takes depends on the weather, the condition revealed by washing and the access to the property, so a figure on paper would be a guess. What it does fix are the scope and the prices. Restoration of this kind is what our sister site specialises in. If you want to understand the technique rather than the price, stamped concrete restoration explains the process from the surface point of view.
Why does the quote start with pressure washing?
Because nothing adheres properly to a dirty surface. The first line, 350 m² at 1,20 € per m², covers cleaning the whole area with pressurised water to remove dirt, loose particles, moss and old residues. It costs 420,00 € net, roughly 8 % of the total, and it is the step that decides whether the later coats bond well.
Washing also reveals the true condition of the surface. Cracks, crumbling patches and small holes that were hidden under grime become visible, which is why the repair line follows directly afterwards. On this quote the washing is priced on the full area, not on selected patches, because the new finish covers everything.
What does the surface repair line cover?
It covers filling cracks and holes so that the new finish sits on a continuous surface. At 2,00 € per m² over 350 m², the line is 700,00 € net. Cracks and holes are filled with acrylic filler or mortar, depending on their size and position, before any coloured coat is applied.
The line is priced per m² of the whole area rather than per crack, which keeps the quote simple and predictable. This works when the damage is spread in the usual way across a worn surface. If washing reveals a zone that is sunken or broken rather than just cracked, that is no longer a restoration issue; it needs base repair, and it would be quoted separately.
That distinction matters. A coat of resin cannot fix a surface that moves. If your paving has dips or rocking blocks, the right starting point is re-levelling sunken areas, and the restoration can follow once the base is stable.
Why is masking a separate line?
Because protecting edges is real work, and doing it properly is what keeps walls, thresholds, gates and plant beds free of resin. The line is 350 m² at 0,50 €, so 175,00 € net. Masking tape is applied along every border where the coloured finish must stop cleanly.
Some quotes fold this into the coating price. Showing it separately has two advantages: you can see that it is included, and you can compare it with another contractor's offer. A surface with many edges, steps or fixtures needs more masking per m² than an open rectangle, which is one reason restoration prices vary between properties.
What is the tinted acrylic resin line?
It is the coloured finish itself and the largest single line in the quote. Tinted acrylic resin is applied in two coats over the cleaned and repaired surface, at 9,50 € per m², which gives 3.325,00 € net for 350 m². That is about 63 % of the net total, so this line drives most of the price.
The two coats are part of the specification, not an option. Each coat is worked into the texture of the surface and carried right up to the masked edges. We work with Mapei products; the quote does not name a specific product, and we do not make claims about drying times or service life, which depend on conditions beyond the quote.
Colour is chosen before the work starts. The sample photographs on this page show a dark grey finish on a stamped concrete driveway and garage apron. Other colours can be quoted at the same line price; the choice affects the look, not the structure of the quote.

Is the protective coat necessary?
It is optional, and the quote says so. The final protective coat is priced at 1,50 € per m², or 525,00 € net for 350 m². It is applied over the tinted resin as a last layer. Whether to include it is the client's decision; leaving it out changes the totals but not the other lines.
| Version | Net | IVA 21 % | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| With protective coat (as quoted) | 5.245,00 € | 1.101,45 € | 6.346,45 € |
| Without protective coat | 4.720,00 € | 991,20 € | 5.711,20 € |
Marking an item as optional is good practice in any quote. It lets you see the price of each decision separately rather than having to ask for a second version. If you compare this quote with others, check whether their coating price includes a top coat or not.
How can I use this sample to check other quotes?
Use it as a template for what a restoration quote should list. A quote that only says 'paint driveway, 350 m²' with a single figure gives you nothing to compare. Set it beside this sample and check, line by line, whether each step is present, how it is measured and whether it is mandatory or optional.
- Check that cleaning covers the whole area and is done with pressurised water before any repair.
- Check that cracks and holes are filled before the coloured coats, and with what kind of material.
- Check that edge protection is included, either as its own line or stated inside another line.
- Check how many coats of tinted finish are priced; this sample uses two.
- Check whether a final protective coat is included, optional or missing.
- Check whether final cleaning and tape removal are included, and whether IVA is shown separately.
If another quote is far below this one, the gap usually sits in one of these steps. A single coat instead of two, no repair line or no masking can each reduce the figure noticeably while also changing the result you will get.
How does the total relate to the 15 € per m² rate?
It matches it closely. Our published renovation rate is 15 € per m² plus IVA. In the sample, the five per-m² lines add up to 14,70 € per m², and the fixed cleaning line of 100,00 € brings the net total to 5.245,00 €, which is just under 15 € per m² across the 350 m².
- Preparation (washing, repair, masking): 1.295,00 € net, about a quarter of the total.
- Coloured finish (two coats of tinted resin): 3.325,00 € net.
- Optional protection: 525,00 € net.
- Fixed item, final cleaning and tape removal: 100,00 € net.
- Gross cost per m² including IVA: about 18,13 €.
The fixed line explains why very small areas cost more per m²: the final cleaning does not shrink in proportion. Frequently asked questions
What is the total of the 350 m² sample quote?
The net total is 5.245,00 €. IVA at 21 % adds 1.101,45 €, giving a total of 6.346,45 €. Without the optional protective coat, the figures would be 4.720,00 € net, 991,20 € IVA and 5.711,20 € in total.
Is the sample quote a real job?
Yes, it is a real quote with the client details removed. The lines, quantities and unit prices are unchanged. It does not include a completion date or duration, because those depend on weather, condition and access rather than on the area alone.
Which line costs the most?
The tinted acrylic resin in two coats, at 9,50 € per m², which comes to 3.325,00 € net on 350 m². That is about 63 % of the net total. Preparation lines together account for roughly a quarter.
Why is there a fixed line of 100 €?
Final cleaning and removing the masking tapes is a task whose cost does not grow in direct proportion to the area, so it is priced as one unit. On small areas this fixed line raises the effective price per m² slightly.
Can I skip the protective coat?
Yes, the quote marks it as optional. Leaving it out removes 525,00 € net from the total. Every other line stays the same. The decision is made before work starts, so the finish is applied consistently over the whole area.
Does the quote include repairing sunken areas?
No. The repair line covers filling cracks and holes with acrylic filler or mortar. Sunken or moving zones need their base corrected first, which is a different job with its own rate starting from 30 € per m² plus IVA.
Does a 100 m² restoration cost proportionally less?
The per-m² lines scale with the area, so they would be lower in proportion. The fixed cleaning line would remain, which makes the effective price per m² slightly higher on smaller areas. A written quote gives the exact figure.
Which products are used for the resin?
We work with Mapei products. The quote does not name a specific product, and we do not give drying times or service life figures, because they depend on conditions outside the quote such as weather and use.
Can the restoration be done on block paving too?
The same renovation approach applies to stamped concrete, plain concrete and pavers, as long as the surface is stable. The sample quote concerns an existing outdoor surface; a quote for pavers would list the same kinds of lines.
Why is there no completion date in the quote?
Because the time needed depends on weather, the condition found after washing and access to the property. Rather than print a guess, the quote fixes scope and price, and the schedule is agreed directly with you before work begins.
