What does the paving calculator do?
It turns the published rates into an approximate price band for your area. You choose a service and type the number of square metres; the calculation runs on our server and returns a rounded range, shown both as a net figure and with IVA at 21 % added, so you can check a budget before asking for a written quote.
The calculator does not replace a quote. It does not know your access, your slope or what lies under the existing surface, and it does not pretend to. Its job is to answer a simpler question first: is the project you have in mind in the right order of magnitude for the money you want to spend on it?
Think of it as the same multiplication you could do with a pocket calculator, with two differences: it applies the rate that matches the service you chose, and it rounds the outcome so that nobody reads more precision into it than it contains. For owners who are planning from abroad, it is a quick way to decide whether a restoration, a repair or new paving fits the budget before spending time on photos and measurements.
Which inputs does the calculator ask for?
Only two: the type of service and the area in m². Keeping the inputs to a minimum is deliberate, because every additional question about the site would suggest a precision that a form cannot deliver without photos. Everything else about your property is better explained by a few photos than by a drop-down menu.
Service type
- Laying only: labour for pavers you supply or on an existing base, based on €16/m² + IVA, kerbs excluded.
- Turnkey block paving: the complete build-up with materials and kerbs, based on €84/m² + IVA, up to 150 m².
- Sunken paver repair: lifting, base correction and relaying, based on the starting rate of €30/m² + IVA.
- Restoration: washing, crack filling, edge masking, tinted resin in two coats and protective coat, based on €15/m² + IVA.
Area in square metres
Enter the approximate surface you want paved, repaired or restored. For a rectangle, multiply length by width; for an irregular plot, split it into simple shapes and add them together. The guide on measuring square metres explains how to handle curves, steps and planting beds so your figure is realistic.
Why does the calculator give a band rather than one figure?
Because a single exact number would be misleading. The rates describe a typical job, and real sites vary, so the server rounds the result and presents it as a range that reflects that uncertainty honestly. It is a starting point for a conversation, not a promise.
A band also makes the result easier to use. If your budget sits comfortably inside it, you can go ahead and ask for a quote with confidence. If it sits below the band, it is worth thinking about the scope: a smaller area, restoration instead of replacement, or reusing existing pavers. The page on what moves paving costs explains which site conditions tend to place a real quote towards one end of the band or the other.
The calculation is done on the server rather than in your browser so that it always uses the current published rates. If the rates on this website are updated, the calculator follows them automatically, and there is no risk of an old copy of the page giving an out-of-date figure.
What happens with turnkey areas larger than 150 m²?
For turnkey paving above 150 m², the calculator does not show a band; it asks you to request an individual quote. The published turnkey rate applies up to 150 m², and larger areas are studied case by case, where a discount may be possible because fixed costs are spread over more ground.
We do not publish a figure for that discount, because it depends on the site, the access for deliveries and the amount of preparation needed. Send the measurement and some photos, and the quote will show the rate applied to your area. The article who the turnkey package suits discusses larger driveways and communal areas.
What is not included in the calculator result?
The result covers only what the chosen rate includes. Site-specific items, which differ from one property to the next, are left out and appear later in the written quote as separate lines. This keeps the band clean and comparable with the published rates.
- Lifting existing paving or concrete and removing the rubble.
- Kerbs for labour-only jobs, which are priced separately.
- Drainage channels or gullies where water needs a new outlet.
- Material upgrades such as natural stone, clay pavers or a different format.
- Extra work caused by difficult access, steep slopes or unsuitable ground.

How do you move from a band to a written quote?
Send us a photo and the approximate m² – free, no-obligation quote. Mention the band the calculator gave you and the service you selected, and we will tell you whether your site is likely to sit within it and why.
A few wide photos, a close-up of any damage and a shot of the access from the street are usually enough for an indicative written figure. If you are abroad, the conversation can stay in English from the first message to the final invoice. The guide on quotes from photos lists the most useful pictures, and the block paving cost per m² page explains the two new-paving rates in detail.
If your project involves a stamped concrete or block paved surface that has sunk in places as well as faded, you may need two services combined: repair first, then restoration. The calculator handles one service at a time, so run it twice and add the results, or simply describe both problems when you send the photos. The specialist site on driveway renovation explains when restoration alone is enough.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the cost of block paving a driveway?
Measure the area in m², choose turnkey or labour-only in the calculator and enter the figure. The server returns a rounded band without and with IVA at 21 %, based on €84 or €16 per m² plus IVA. For a firm price, send photos for a written quote.
Is the calculator result a quote?
No. It is an approximate, rounded band to help you check your budget. It does not account for access, slope, demolition or ground conditions. The binding figure is the written quote we prepare after seeing photos or visiting the property.
Why do I not get a figure for more than 150 m² of turnkey paving?
The published turnkey rate applies up to 150 m². Larger areas are studied individually, and a discount may be possible because fixed costs are spread over more square metres. The calculator therefore asks you to request an individual quote.
Does the calculator include IVA?
It shows both. Every result is given as a net band and as a band with IVA at 21 % added, so you can see the amount you will actually pay as well as the figure you will see in the net columns of a quote.
Can I calculate the cost of restoring stamped concrete?
Yes. Choose restoration as the service and enter the area. The band is based on €15 per m² plus IVA, which covers washing, crack filling, masking, tinted acrylic resin in two coats and a protective coat.
Can the calculator price a sunken paver repair?
Yes, using the starting rate of €30 per m² plus IVA. Because repairs vary with the depth and cause of the sinking, treat the result as a lower reference and expect the written quote to confirm whether your case sits above it.
Why does the calculation run on the server?
So that it always uses the current published rates. The band you see is calculated from the same figures shown on this website, and any update to the rates is reflected immediately, without relying on an old copy of the page in your browser.
What if I do not know the exact m²?
An approximate figure is fine. Pace out the length and width, or use a plan or an online map to estimate the area. Our guide on measuring square metres explains how to deal with irregular shapes; we measure accurately before the final quote.
Does the result include removing my old paving?
No. Removing existing paving or concrete and taking the rubble away depends entirely on the site, so it is never part of the calculator band. It appears in the written quote as its own item when it applies.
Can I use the calculator for a community of owners?
Yes. Enter the total area of the communal driveway, path or parking area. For turnkey areas above 150 m² you will be asked to request an individual quote, which can then be presented to the owners' meeting.
